Avantis


This week I visited Avantis, located on West Main Street across the street from Bradley’s campus. They are open from 10:15am to 9:30pm every day of the week. I have been to this location a few times, and yes I have had a Gondola from here but my review is not on that today because pretty much everyone likes their gondolas. But ever since last week my hunt for good barbecue chicken pizza in Peoria is still on. When I was at Avantis with some friends I noticed they have barbecue chicken pizza and the waitress also recommended it say it was one of her favorites so I had to give it a try. After eating lots of their famous bread, the pizza had arrived. It was a hand made pizza with all fresh ingredients and barbecue sauce. Unlike other pizzas it had cut up pieces of bacon strips instead of little chopped up bacon bits and their famous bread as crust making this one of my new favorite barbecue chicken pizzas in Peoria! Overall I definitely recommend this and would give it 5 Gondolas out of 5!

    Whenever I've gone to Avanti's I usually default for the pasta, and never really consider looking around the menu too much. Guess I really didn't read carefully because I didn't even look to see they had bbq chicken pizza. It's one of my favorites styles of pizza and I'd love to find a place that makes a good one. I'll definitely have to order this the next time I'm there!

This week I changed it up and decided to visit Bradley University’s finest, Geisert Dining Hall. This is the largest one of two buffet dining halls here on Bradley’s campus. They are located on North Duryea Place here on Bradley’s Campus. They are open from Monday – Friday from 7:15am – 8:00pm and Saturday – Sunday from 8:30am – 4:00pm. They serve food all day, but offer the most variety during breakfast, lunch and dinner times. The menu features international entrees, grill, deli, salad, and more. I went to dinner here this week and got a mixture of the options for the day at the different stations. This included steamed corn, butter noodles, French fries, bread sticks, honey ham, and chocolate chip cookies. I have been eating here for most of the four years I have been going to Bradley and the food here is eatable but usually not very good. Tonight’s meal was an average night. Obed and Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery

This week I visited Obed and Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery, located at 321 NE Madison Avenue, Peoria IL. They are located right down the street from OSF hospital. They are open from 11am-11:30pm every day of the week. This microbrewery is very unique in that the building it is in used to be a local church before being sold and transformed into a brewery and restaurant. This is unlike any restaurant I have been to, especially in the Peoria area. The inside of the building has been updated and tables and a bar have been added, but the stain glass windows and artwork are still the same from the church. The stained glass is truly breathtaking on sunny days when it is fully illuminated. Aside from being a very cool building, they have some really good food. I have eaten here a few times and have tried a few different menu items, such as their burgers, flatbread pizzas, and German pretzels. The Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern

This week I decided to try a new place I have not been to before, called The Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern. My family and I are huge barbecue fans, and a few friends have recommended this place to me. My family came down this weekend and I thought this would be a great new place to try some new food. This restaurant is located on Southwest Water Street right on the river. They are open Tuesday – Saturday for lunch and dinner. This location has a very small dinning room and bar along the back wall. Since it is so small the wit time can be very long. Getting there before the rush of lunch and dinner will significantly cut down on the wait time. We started with the Barbecue Nachos appetizer. This blend of home made tortilla chips topped with your smoked pulled pork, cheese sauce, pico de gallo, spiced sour cream and guacamole.
