For this final week, I visited The Ice Cream Shack, located at 2313 NE Adams Street Peoria, IL. They are located near Alexander’s Steakhouse on the other side of Interstate 74. They are open from 10:30am – 10pm every day of the week. They are only open during the spring and summer months of the year. This location is a small walk up and order at the window, local ice cream shop offering sundaes, shakes, and other hot food like hot dogs and fries. The surrounding area has lots of benches and picnic tables to sit and enjoy the food on a warm summer day or night. This was the first time I have ever been to this location or getting food from here. When we arrived the place was packed and there was a long line at the window. This week I visited Obed and Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery, located at 321 NE Madison Avenue, Peoria IL. They are located right down the street from OSF hospital. They are open from 11am-11:30pm every day of the week. This microbrewery is very unique in that the building it is in used to be a local church before being sold and transformed into a brewery and restaurant. This is unlike any restaurant I have been to, especially in the Peoria area. The inside of the building has been updated and tables and a bar have been added, but the stain glass windows and artwork are still the same from the church. The stained glass is truly breathtaking on sunny days when it is fully illuminated. Aside from being a very cool building, they have some really good food. I have eaten here a few times and have tried a few different menu items, such as their burgers, flatbread pizzas, and German pretzels. This week I visited Thanh Linh, located on West Main Street across the street from Bradley’s campus. They are open Monday through Saturday from 11am – 8:30pm and closed on Sunday. This restaurant is a local Vietnamese restaurant that offers a verity of classic Vietnamese meals and buffet.  They offer the lunch buffet from 11am-2pm Monday through Friday and a dinner buffet Friday and Saturday. I went with some friends for dinner this week so I was unable to try the buffet, but they said it is one of their most popular meal options. After going through their menu a few times I chose the Sweet and Sour Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice. For those of you that have not eaten here before the plates of food are enough to feed two people! (I did not know this before ordering.) A plate overflowing with Chicken was placed down in front of me, and another plate with a mountain of Chicken Fried Rice placed next to it. This week I visited One World, located on West Main Street across the street from Bradley’s campus. They are open from 7:30am- 10pm everyday of the week. To be honest I know this place is very popular with Bradley students and locals, but this was the first time I have been here. I told some friends I have been on the hunt the last few weeks trying to find some good barbecue chicken pizza in Peoria and they recommended One World. This restaurant offers a wide verity of food options and desserts, but naturally I chose the barbecue chicken pizza with hand tossed crust. You could taste the fresh ingredients they use in their food. The pulled chicken and melted shredded cheese is an incredible blend of flavor. The best part of this pizza was the barbecue sauce by far. Usually barbecue chicken pizza has a sweet almost honey barbecue sauce but this was a Smokey/ hickory sauce that went perfectly with the hand tossed crust.
