Tequila's Mexican Bar and Grill

This week I visited one of my favorite Hispanic restaurants in Peoria, Tequila’s Mexican Bar & Grill. This restaurant is located on the other side of the river on West Washington Street in East Peoria. They offer a variety of traditional food as well as seafood options. After being seated they provide chips and a home blend salsa. The chips are made in house and are served hot fresh out of the fryer. I do not like very spicy salsa but this blend has just enough spice to it and is very enjoyable. This combination is perfect and we ended up eating two bowels of chips and salsa before our food came out. For the main course I usually order the same thing every time. (Chicken tacos with rice and a home made Queso sauce.) As good as it is I decided to change it up this time and get something I have not had before. I went with shrimp fajitas with sizzling grilled onions, bell peppers, and rice. This dish is straight off the grill and actually comes out sizzling and steaming. The tacos are delicious, the combination of onions and sweet peppers where amazing. There was plenty of shrimp for each taco and having all the ingredients mixed together along with the rice was phenomenal. This dish is defiantly one of my new favorite ones at Tequila’s. Overall I would give this 4.5 Tequila’s out of 5.

This week I changed it up and decided to visit Bradley University’s finest, Geisert Dining Hall. This is the largest one of two buffet dining halls here on Bradley’s campus. They are located on North Duryea Place here on Bradley’s Campus. They are open from Monday – Friday from 7:15am – 8:00pm and Saturday – Sunday from 8:30am – 4:00pm. They serve food all day, but offer the most variety during breakfast, lunch and dinner times. The menu features international entrees, grill, deli, salad, and more. I went to dinner here this week and got a mixture of the options for the day at the different stations. This included steamed corn, butter noodles, French fries, bread sticks, honey ham, and chocolate chip cookies. I have been eating here for most of the four years I have been going to Bradley and the food here is eatable but usually not very good. Tonight’s meal was an average night. Obed and Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery

This week I visited Obed and Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery, located at 321 NE Madison Avenue, Peoria IL. They are located right down the street from OSF hospital. They are open from 11am-11:30pm every day of the week. This microbrewery is very unique in that the building it is in used to be a local church before being sold and transformed into a brewery and restaurant. This is unlike any restaurant I have been to, especially in the Peoria area. The inside of the building has been updated and tables and a bar have been added, but the stain glass windows and artwork are still the same from the church. The stained glass is truly breathtaking on sunny days when it is fully illuminated. Aside from being a very cool building, they have some really good food. I have eaten here a few times and have tried a few different menu items, such as their burgers, flatbread pizzas, and German pretzels. The Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern

This week I decided to try a new place I have not been to before, called The Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern. My family and I are huge barbecue fans, and a few friends have recommended this place to me. My family came down this weekend and I thought this would be a great new place to try some new food. This restaurant is located on Southwest Water Street right on the river. They are open Tuesday – Saturday for lunch and dinner. This location has a very small dinning room and bar along the back wall. Since it is so small the wit time can be very long. Getting there before the rush of lunch and dinner will significantly cut down on the wait time. We started with the Barbecue Nachos appetizer. This blend of home made tortilla chips topped with your smoked pulled pork, cheese sauce, pico de gallo, spiced sour cream and guacamole.
