Avantis

Image
This week I visited Avantis, located on West Main Street across the street from Bradley’s campus. They are open from 10:15am to 9:30pm every day of the week. I have been to this location a few times, and yes I have had a Gondola from here but my review is not on that today because pretty much everyone likes their gondolas. But ever since last week my hunt for good barbecue chicken pizza in Peoria is still on. When I was at Avantis with some friends I noticed they have barbecue chicken pizza and the waitress also recommended it say it was one of her favorites so I had to give it a try. After eating lots of their famous bread, the pizza had arrived. It was a hand made pizza with all fresh ingredients and barbecue sauce. Unlike other pizzas it had cut up pieces of bacon strips instead of little chopped up bacon bits and their famous bread as crust making this one of my new favorite barbecue chicken pizzas in Peoria! Overall I definitely recommend this and would give i...

Granite City Food & Brewery

Image
This week I visited Granite City Food & Brewery, located on Conference Center Drive in East Peoria. They are open Monday – Thursday 11am-11pm, Friday and Saturday 11am-12am. I have been to this location once before with my family a few years ago, and thought I would go again for my blog review. This time I ordered a flat bread barbecue chicken pizza. This is my all time favorite pizza and I am always looking for places that have it since there are always so few. The pizza was very good with a tasty blend of cheese and a sweet homemade barbecue sauce. I was going to make my post about the pizza but, then the table next to us was served a cookie skillet with ice cream. Naturally I ordered one for my friends and I. This turned out to be a great decision. It was served in a big iron skillet fresh out of the oven, with an ice-cold scoop of ice cream, and drizzled in caramel sauce. The cookie had big melted chocolate chunks and small chopped nuts baked inside of it. This di...

Burger Barge

Image
This week I visited the famous Burger Barge. I have been to the one by Par A Dice casino a few times but thought I would try a different location out and went to the one on Lake Avenue in Peoria. This location is open Sunday through Thursday from 11am – 9pm and Friday through Saturday 11am – 10pm. This location offers the same beach themed atmosphere and unique burger options. I do think the original one being by the water and more of a dive bar does add to the theme of the restaurant, where this one is just a beach restaurant that is kind of dirty and was very low staffed. They do have a very unique menu with burgers you are not going to find anywhere else in Peoria. I recommend experimenting or creating your own to make a new unique burger. This time I got a cheeseburger with bacon and barbeque sauce, and a side of onion rings that I added to the burger. Over all the burger was pretty good and the onion rings had the perfect amount of crunch to them and a nice be...

Bullpen Bar and Grill

Image
This week I visited a restaurant I have not been to before, Bullpen Bar and Grill. This past weekend Bradley’s basketball team was playing in the Arch Madness tournament and my friends and I decided to go there to watch the game and get some food. This restaurant is located in the landmark center on North Dries Lane in Peoria. They are open every day at 11:00AM and close at midnight Sunday through Wednesday, and open till 1:00AM Thursday through Saturday. This restaurant is just like Buffalo Wild Wings with a sports bar type of atmosphere. There are big TVs on every wall, all playing a different game or sport. It is a great local place to watch a sporting event and they show the UFC fights there. They offer a verity of bar food link wings, pizza, and different sharable appetizers. One of my friends I was with recommended getting the chicken quesadilla. They are made to order and are a mix of copped chicken and a southwest blend of cheeses. It also comes with a side...
