Burger Barge


This week I visited the famous Burger Barge. I have been to the one by Par A Dice casino a few times but thought I would try a different location out and went to the one on Lake Avenue in Peoria. This location is open Sunday through Thursday from 11am – 9pm and Friday through Saturday 11am – 10pm. This location offers the same beach themed atmosphere and unique burger options. I do think the original one being by the water and more of a dive bar does add to the theme of the restaurant, where this one is just a beach restaurant that is kind of dirty and was very low staffed. They do have a very unique menu with burgers you are not going to find anywhere else in Peoria. I recommend experimenting or creating your own to make a new unique burger. This time I got a cheeseburger with bacon and barbeque sauce, and a side of onion rings that I added to the burger. Over all the burger was pretty good and the onion rings had the perfect amount of crunch to them and a nice beer batter on them. Over all I would give this 3.5 out of 5 Burger Barges.

    I love how weird the original location is! It's a total beach shack which goes along with that theme. Even being a vegetarian I found really tasty bites there so that was dope. Plus they have the 2$ Bloody Mary's on Sunday's which is definitely a perk!

This week I changed it up and decided to visit Bradley University’s finest, Geisert Dining Hall. This is the largest one of two buffet dining halls here on Bradley’s campus. They are located on North Duryea Place here on Bradley’s Campus. They are open from Monday – Friday from 7:15am – 8:00pm and Saturday – Sunday from 8:30am – 4:00pm. They serve food all day, but offer the most variety during breakfast, lunch and dinner times. The menu features international entrees, grill, deli, salad, and more. I went to dinner here this week and got a mixture of the options for the day at the different stations. This included steamed corn, butter noodles, French fries, bread sticks, honey ham, and chocolate chip cookies. Obed and Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery

This week I visited Obed and Isaac’s Microbrewery and Eatery, located at 321 NE Madison Avenue, Peoria IL. They are located right down the street from OSF hospital. They are open from 11am-11:30pm every day of the week. This microbrewery is very unique in that the building it is in used to be a local church before being sold and transformed into a brewery and restaurant. This is unlike any restaurant I have been to, especially in the Peoria area. The inside of the building has been updated and tables and a bar have been added, but the stain glass windows and artwork are still the same from the church. The stained glass is truly breathtaking on sunny days when it is fully illuminated. Aside from being a very cool building, they have some really good food. I have eaten here a few times and have tried a few different menu items, such as their burgers, flatbread pizzas, and German pretzels. The Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern

This week I decided to try a new place I have not been to before, called The Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern. My family and I are huge barbecue fans, and a few friends have recommended this place to me. My family came down this weekend and I thought this would be a great new place to try some new food. This restaurant is located on Southwest Water Street right on the river. They are open Tuesday – Saturday for lunch and dinner. This location has a very small dinning room and bar along the back wall. Since it is so small the wit time can be very long. Getting there before the rush of lunch and dinner will significantly cut down on the wait time. We started with the Barbecue Nachos appetizer. This blend of home made tortilla chips topped with your smoked pulled pork, cheese sauce, pico de gallo, spiced sour cream and guacamole.
