The Ice Cream Shack
For this final week, I visited The Ice Cream Shack, located at 2313 NE Adams Street Peoria, IL. They are located near Alexander’s Steakhouse on the other side of Interstate 74. They are open from 10:30am – 10pm every day of the week. They are only open during the spring and summer months of the year. This location is a small walk up and order at the window, local ice cream shop offering sundaes, shakes, and other hot food like hot dogs and fries. The surrounding area has lots of benches and picnic tables to sit and enjoy the food on a warm summer day or night. This was the first time I have ever been to this location or getting food from here. When we arrived the place was packed and there was a long line at the window. Always a good sign when there is a ton of people there so I knew this was going to be good. Naturally, I ordered the most obnoxious thing I could think of because it is the last week of this blog and why not! I ordered a hot fudge sundae with nuts, sprinkles, and whip cream in a waffle bowel cone and a side of fries. (Hot fresh fries and ice cream are absolutely amazing if you have not tried it you are missing out.) Overall this was amazing and exactly what I needed now that it is starting to get warm outside. Only thing I did not like was that I did not know about this place sooner. Overall I would give this 5 ice cream shacks out of 5!

I was able to find out about ice cream shack very early on in my college career here at Bradley and super happy that I was able to! Like you said Ice Cream Shack would be perfect right now while it is starting to get warmer out. Another great time to go is during finals week as a nice study break to get out and enjoy a great snack and great weather.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to go since last year! I have only heard good things about this place. Ice cream and fries are my favorite things so I will have to go before graduation. I'm sure this place is always busy so no matter what time you go, you'll be waiting. Supposedly worth the wait though!
ReplyDeleteI was taken to this place at the end of my sophomore year and I also was upset that I did not hear of it sooner since I am crazy obsessed with ice cream. Since then, this has been a tradition with different organizations I am in. We make it a must to go when it opens and closes for the year. This will definitely be one of the places I am going to miss the most after I graduate this May.

I am from Peoria so I am a little biased, but I think that Ice Cream Shack is the best place to get ice cream from. I think one of the reasons is because of the environment around the stand. It is a really pleasant place to hang out with friends and family and enjoy dessert.
